Replacing Your Toothbrush

Posted .

A mouth can be healthiest when it is brushed twice a day with the right toothbrush. If your toothbrush is too old or stored in the wrong way, instead of helping your oral health, you might be doing harm.

Our dentists, Dr. Garcia and Dr. Gortari, want you to have the best oral health possible. That’s why our team at Oasis Family Dental in McAllen, Texas, want to make sure you are using the right toothbrush.

Most people don’t know when to replace their toothbrush. Generally, a toothbrush should be replaced every three to four months. Depending on your own brushing habits and the quality of the brush, you might need to replace the brush sooner.

If you are unsure about if you should replace your brush, look at the bristles on the brush head. If any of the bristles look frayed or broken, it is time to replace your brush.

For the longest life of your toothbrush, make sure to store your toothbrush correctly. Toothbrushes should be stored upright and should be air dried. Do not store your brush in a moist or enclosed environment, as that allows germs to grow in the brush bristles.

With a quality toothbrush and daily oral hygiene, you can have a healthy smile. If you have any concerns or questions about your oral health, please reach out to us and call us at 956-661-1000. We look forward to helping you.
